The Joke is on Me

by Kilara   Jun 20, 2005

Isn't it a damn shame
That we resort to useless games
And with only ourselves to blame
To still be scared to feel the same.

Before you, are too numerous to tell
Of how I played their hearts so well
Leaving behind an empty shell
And laughing at how easily they fell.

It came as a shock for me to find
The one I could not leave behind.
I know not how I was disinclined
To remove you from my mind.

If I had not given all of me
Would you still have set me free?
To ruin a Heartbreaker is a rarity,
But now I see the joke is on me.
