To Thomas

Love is a hard concept to understand.
It's like sailing the seas in hopes of finding land.
For me, it's hard to love someone.
When I try, I always seem to fail.
Just sit back and imagine
while I tell you this heartbreaking tale.

A boy whome I found just a friend at first
told me I was the one, and for me he had a thirst.
With love I thought forever more, and opportunity and perfection came knocking on my door.

In the beginning, for him my heart raced, but as time progressed, the fact I had to face.
Feelings of doubt came to my mind and the forever more love I once had, I could not find.

I told him of my feelings...of the doubt I felt inside.
He never would admit it, but I know that his heart cried.

I still cared for him in a friendship way,
but he set his mind to avoid.
I tried to keep it;tried to fix it,
but our friendship was destroyed.

Now I pray our friendship won't completely die, but to this thought I give a knowing sigh.
The friendship we had would never be the same
becasue of the feelings we both could not contain.
