    If you have a metaphorical meaning to your poem, don't worry about telling people to understand it. Just let it be. Some will see what you wrote, but most won't emphasize on that. Readers pull themes from writing based on their own personal background, and life experiences. If you really want people to see what you are writing about you can try the Nathaniel Hawthorne approach; after all your metaphors and symbols are written, you can come straight out and tell the reader what you meant in the poem. Hawthorne does this several times in his and it worked for him.
