First Lesson: The More You Care, The More You Fall

by Jennifer   Jul 15, 2005

We were young and reckless
Not a single care in our mind
Full of risk and carelessness
Love had us high and blind

We traded our hearts
Like kids trade cards
We didn’t have the smarts
To watch for love’s shards

Love isn’t just hugs and kisses
It has its bad times
Love has its glitches
It also has its crimes

Love has its many benefits
Like harmony and care
Everything perfectly fits
And someone’s always there

Love also has its losses
Like nights of endless tears
Love has the sharpest of edges
And can become your biggest fear

We open our hearts to someone
Then they cause us great pain
Our hearts are shattered and broken
And there’s nothing left to gain

But when your love is true
It becomes something eternal
Words can’t describe its value
So blessed, so lucky, so grateful
