A Knight In Tarnished Armor

by wayne t   Jul 31, 2005

Along time ago, a knight in shinning armor young and in love was I,
Found my princess, swept her off her feet riding to our castle of love,
As they say, days of wine and rose did follow for many moons to see,
But as the evil one crept into the forest, a dark pall was cast unto thee,

Love's passion and warmth turned cold as ice sending daggers of hate,
From eyes that once viewed me as her soul mate till death do us part,
Now death seems more pleasurable than being ostracized and chastised,
Our castle of love now resembles a chamber of horrors, torture by words,

Over time wounds became deeper cutting to the bone, chilling the soul,
Faults of one another however minuscule, were the weapons of her choice,
Discussions only fueled the fires of resentment, reconciliation not an option,
A parting of the ways, not in sweet sorrow, but from love turned evil with hate,

The empty shell of this knight in tarnished armor leaves his castle in haste,
Never realizing the tarnished armor is not of his doing but of this devoted love,
For a princess who shunned his love, forcing him to believe he drove her away,
A most ingenious mind game that worked for her, he quietly sits going insane,

Time heals all wounds so it's been told, not when your body and mind feel old,
But revealing my inner soul and wounds to someone with love who cares for me,
She brought a sheen to my armor and revitalized the inner man, this knight of old,
A silver haired princess graciously accepted this knight into her heart and soul.
