AwakeninG

by Jin Hui   Aug 2, 2005

As the moon descends into the brightness of morning
There comes my awakening
Not from a seven hour slumber
No, this was much much deeper

Every morning I wake up to empty space
Instead of a warm and genuine face
Watching me wake up and smiling back
Because I provided her with something she always lacked

The softness and tenderness of my body, my bed, my pillow
As she is warmed by the sun rays piecing through the window
And as we laid there
Running my hand through your flowing hair

I knew that every morning you were the first I opened my eyes to
And I was the first into your eyes
A moment many take for granted, yet they never realize
That this moment is the rarest treasure one can find
To wake up with the greatest pleasure known to mankind

But upon my true awakening
There’s no one beside me except my alarm clock blaring
Another day waking up to the harsh reality that I cannot avoid
That has left my heart with a deeper void
