Torture

by Prisci Cabezas   Aug 6, 2005

I don’t want to overstep my bounds
I will not cross the line with you
I have to know the path is clear
Before I decide to take my first steps toward you again

We were both hurt
And now I’m afraid that that may be the only reason
For us to be getting close again
And I don’t want that to hurt us later

So, until we’ve both made up our minds
Figured out what we really want
I say sit back and enjoy the view
This is as close as we are going to get right now

It pains me to think we’re stuck this way
It’s torture to have to sit here feeling this way
Missing you, wanting you,
But how sweet the torture is when it finally takes you somewhere

It seems, though, that timing is off
For both of us
So if and when our time does finally come
I hope we’ll both be ready

Freedom from this torturous state
Is what I need
But when I get it
I hope it’s really what I want
