Mom

I looked in the mirror today mom,
Wearing your high-heels, and your makeup.
Showing off my look to anyone who would look.

Your lipstick the color red,
My shoes a few years ahead of my time.
The scab on my nose.
I am happy and know no fear!

Jumping in the pool without my water wings.
Running around, as free as the wind!
My spirit free, my thoughts clear.
I am content with life.

I'm growing older now mom.
Taking Tae-Kwon-Do.
You being there for every moment.
Being my biggest fan.

You cheer me on through it all.
Beside me you stand always.
For you I can always count on.
I love you mom!

Dad's left now,
Gone for good.
It's hard for all of us.
Especially you!

Holding your hand at night.
Getting in bed with you.
Trying to make you smile.
Mom I love you with all of my heart.

I looked into the mirror today mom,
Hoping to get some answers.
But instead, I found heartbreaks,
And a tear-stricken face.

Crying because I am getting older,
Things are changing, people leaving.
And crying because I am a teenager now.
It's a teenage girl thing.

Getting up early,
Fixing my hair, doing my makeup.
Picking out my clothes.
For the first day of High school.

It's Scary mom, getting older.
Unsure of so many things.
But one thing is for sure,
Your love for me! I love you mom!

I am still growing up,
And getting ready for my first date.
You brush my hair, help with makeup.
And shed tears with me!

I love you mom!
It's my turn now....
To get you ready for your date.
I send you off and slowly close the door.

Then I walk into your room and break down.
I sit on your bed,
With tears slowly streaming down my face.
Silently glad, yet scared.

Scared because I don't want to lose you.
Glad because you are happy.
My mom is growing up.
I'm just glad I could share this moment with u.

I love you mom.
And I always will.
For you to be happy is all I can wish for.
Forever is a long word. But forever I will love you!
