Were You the One?

by SaraR   Aug 11, 2005

I never believed in love at first sight until I met you
The moment our hands touched was a moment of truth
It was at that moment that something did occur to me
Could you be “the one” or was this all just a dream?
How would I know, how could I tell?
Maybe because from that day on I was lost in your spell
This was a different kind of feeling from those in the past
Even though I tried to fight it, I was falling real deep, real fast
You were like a breath of fresh air, a sigh of relief
It was as if you were put here on this earth just for me
You put me at ease and made me feel safe
A feeling of belonging you gave me, with you was my place
I was starving for this kind of love & I didn’t even know it
You were trying to hide it too, but eventually you showed it
You made me happy, happier than I’d ever been
It was written all over my face & you could also see within
My heart was smiling & singing a happy song
Little did I know you wouldn’t be here for long
Thinking back I tend to wonder if it was real
How long does it hurt & when will my heart heal?
Because I have faith, I have to believe…
Everything happens for a reason & there must’ve been a purpose greater than you & me
I cannot see, nor can I tell what my future does hold
But knowing what I know now makes it worth the wait to see what unfolds
Could there possibly be another that could be “the one”?
There’s only one person who knows the answer to that
And my trust lies in Him of what will become

Good poem, but really really tough to read because it's not devided up in paragraphs, that's probably the reason it's been rated so low.

    best wishes,
