Turns black

by Robert S. Velez   Aug 19, 2005

“Turns black”

The hate, the fury, the fist clenched tight
The blood, the pain just because of a fight
The sound you heard was not in your dreams
It was the screeching sound of dying screams
This isn’t what you wanted it’s not what you planned
Then you just ask “is this what it is to become a man?”
It’s carved in stone and etched on a plaque
Your eyes get heavy and the world turns black.
