Where did the years go? (2oo6)

by Stacinator   Aug 24, 2005

It was like just yesterday
We were the new kids in school
We had to learn our ways around
We had to learn all of the rules
Where was the bathroom?
Where was the next class?
All of the silly questions
That just had to be asked
New kids from all around
As lost as you an I
But we didn't give up
All we did was try
We learned our way around
Each time easier than before
That whole year went by
Now look, we're sophomores.

Sophomore year
We got introduced to our trade
Safety glasses and work boots
And mistakes that were made
Some friends from last year
Weren't there anymore
They were in a different crowd
But new friends came in the door.

Junior year came up
Even faster than sophomore
Wow the third year at school
Can you believe it? One more!

It's the summer of 2005
We're so close to going back
The year when we're the oldest
And we got to stay on track
Whether it's college
Or just a co-op career
Entering the real world
Is what most of us fear
We'll have our senior prom
We'll miss all our friends
We'll wish we were freshmen
Sophomores and juniors again
We'll take our knowledge
And our memories
Our problems that we fixed
And remember our high school year
Cuz we're the class of 2006

I always see little rhyming strings with "were the class of 200x" but this one actually has depth to it.. first stanza i can relate to, but as i dropped out and got my ged, unfortunately, i cant relate to a lot of it.. i liked how u wrote the last "stanza" in the future tense, as i expect you're a junior just as im supposed to be.. without that it'd be kinda incomplete.. gooodjob th0..

    We'll have our senior prom

    We'll wish we were freshmen
    Sophomores and juniors again

i liked how this bit flowed, very good.. it seems like we as people are prone to always want to go back.. like i wish i wouldnt have gotten my ged, but that wasnt my choice.. i guess we just gotta be content with what we have.. no sense in laments, really.. good write.. i like how you write about life the way you do.. 4/5.. pZ out

Really nice. I just graduated and I can relate. I hate leaving highschool and how all my friends have gone but it's part of life and it will always be in our memories. Good work!
