Don't take her

by Matt   Aug 29, 2005

I've written this a dozen times
But it hasn't been right yet
I keep trying to tell you what I feel
Keep trying to let you know what I mean
Never had this problem before
Always been able to voice my feelings
So I'm doing this simple as possible
Because there's no easy way around it
There's no combination of phrases
And no cliches I could use
Nothing I say could be near enough
I don't know what I'm supposed to do
When words fail and action is feeble
I've always relied on my abilities
Never doubted in what I knew
And never questioned the past
Just want to hold you in my arms
To feel your breath on my skin
And to hear your voice when we argue
Don't know what I'd do if it stopped
If I never again tasted your kiss
Or heard your heartbeat near mine
I want to be so much more for you
Never to let you down or fail you
Always wanted to be more than the best
But nothing compares to this
To how I feel walking next to you
Knowing what it's like to care for you
Baby, I'd lose the world for you
Drop to my knees and cry out above
Screaming out, "God please, don't take her"
"Please don't take the girl!"
