The little fairy

by Lenny   Sep 1, 2005

Autumn leaves create a dress,
Winters twigs a cot,
Springs blossoms make a little house,
Near a certain forget-me-not,

If you part its dampened petals,
And be as quiet as can be,
There lies a little fairy,
Sleeping peacefully,

Her wings hang beside her,
Glistening in the sun,
And if you listen closely,
You’ll hear her snoring hum,

A quilt of pocket fluff,
Keeps her snug and warm,
Rising and falling,
Across her tiny form,

But as the dew dries,
And she begins to stir,
I’m afraid you must away,
For you’re not to bother her,

That cute harmless fairy,
Though it may not seem right,
Has a job to do,
Into the hours of the night,

She must visit every flower,
Riding on the breeze,
And leave her special gift,
For all the honey bees,

So let her flutter by,
And carry out her fate,
So that in the morning,
You have honey on your plate.
