The Long Fight

by AloneInaCrowd   Sep 3, 2005

I have a fear deep down inside
It's growing deeper every day:
It's something that I just can't hide
I'm so afraid you'll turn away.

You gaze into my cloud of doubt
You try so hard to ease my pain
I want to cry and let it out
I cannot bear to hurt again.

And even though you say you're sure
I'm so afraid of letting go
Succumb to feelings I deplore
I'm scared to let you free to grow.

What if you find that on your own
You don't need me to tag along?
What if you feel that being alone
Is what you need to make you strong?

I can't give up, I've fought for you
Enduring hardships, every one....
I know deep down our love is true;
Though this long fight is far from done.
