When i escape...

by sameeha abdulnasir   Sep 12, 2005

When I escape my mind
I find myself in a box
surrounded by people
who love me,

yet,

alone,

in a cardboard box with no openings.

Safe in the protective womb
of my mind,
I live in a world
where platinum streets
are outlined in gold;
where there's a reason to smile
and not just pretend.
Where the pain in my life
is only a memory of

something

that may have

or may have not existed.

Is it possible that there could be such a place?
If there's not,

I'd rather be locked in my mind
than trapped in a box.

So I'll stay in my mind

for now

and throw out the key.
