The missing piece

by Alex   Sep 17, 2005

I miss you when you are at home,
I miss you when you're not.
I miss the laugh-lines on your face
Each mole and tiny spot

I miss you more than sunshine
I miss you more than rain,
I miss you more than life itself
My heart's in constant pain.

I see you in my mem'ries,
I feel you near, it seems.
I taste the softness of your skin
In my fantasies and dreams.

I miss the joy of sharing
Your calamities in life
I miss the warmth of coming home
And calling "Hello, my darling wife"

It's a perplexing question
Which makes my heart feel sad?
How can a person ever miss
What they have never had?
