The Bar

by Hopelesslyinluv8   Sep 19, 2005

It was a hot summer night
I saw you out at the local bar
You looked at me and it felt right
I wondered how you are

You walked over and asked "how have you been"
I said "it's nice to see you again"
We talked a short time
And boy did I pine

I was told of a new girl
I smiled and listened
But the whole I time I wanted to hurl

A slow dance started to play
You said "May I"
You took a hold of my hand
I could've swore
It was just the two of us out on that dance floor.

A second dance followed the first
We danced on and on
My palms were sweaty
My knees were shaking
And all I was thinking
My heart is yours for the taking

The song came to an end
So didn't that night
We bid our farewells
Said goodnight and sleep tight

I wanted to tell you that night
How I was feeling
It didn't seem right
You talked of a new girl
And all I wanted to do was hurl
