Who could I be?

by ThugPoet   Sep 24, 2005

I'm color blind and have been since way back when,
sitting malignant in the hearts of women and men,
I was there when God created Adam and Eve,
I'm a part of a persons essence whether or not they chose to believe,
those who've felt me, question my purpose in the scheme of things,
I set souls free, but if I'm misused I'm not responsible for the pain I bring,
at first I can be bitter, but in time I'm as sweet as honey,
funny, man could never bargain my worth with no amounts of money,
I'm here, I'm there, in between and everywhere,
engraved in emotions, so I'm a little piece of all the feelings we share,
I'm uncontrollable like a tidal wave picking up speed,
ridding souls of hate, envy, jealousy, and greed,
even the one who writes this knows me and my intricate deals,
the pain that he hides deep in his being is proof enough that I'm real,
don't over analyze, I could take my time, or come out of surprise,
passion gives me power, and a kiss could give me life, but I could be killed by a series of lies,
you can see me in your Lovers eyes and feel me in their touch,
or when your mother holds you in her arms, when it comes to me theres no such thing as just too much,
I was there with Christ, Mohammad and Moses,
I'm there when you're feeling hopeless, with a mountain of roses,
My friends, the path that leads to me is hard and full of pain and confusion,
but with out Me, purpose is in vain, I'm needed so desperately and thats the conclusion.

Thank you.

You are so right! Love has always been there and drives so much, causes so much pain and heal too. Without it, all the rest is in vain. This is brilliant poem. The only thing I would change would be the last line my friend. It is awkward...did you mean, "I'm in need...."? Very well written and captures so much.
