Worn

by Matt   Oct 12, 2005

He's been around the town on heels of distress
And ripped through the sky on wings of pain
His jeans have faded on the trips
While his T-shirt remains the same
Skin has become callous, and heart turned to scars
Eyes emptied themselves of all emotion
While lips no longer whisper sweet sounds
He takes his hands off his face to show her
It is plain to see the gut-wrenching pain in his face
Every move closer she makes, he turns a bit more away
Tries to hide his anger and pain in his hands
Those worn hands that once held onto hers
A beautiful dawn is wasted on the two
Him, knees to his chest and hands on back of his neck
Her, sitting back on her heels in the sand
All she can do is watch him, in hope
