Last nights dream

by jodie   Nov 1, 2005

Last night I saw a unicorn perched high upon a mountain
And saw drops of solid diamond fall from a crystal fountain

I saw a knight in shinning amour upon his horse of white
Stained with the blood of others, fresh from last nights fight

I saw his lady in waiting in a gown of gold
Waiting for her beloved he is alive the rumors told

As the knight traveled near and far he stopped to gaze at the mountain
Where you could find the unicorn and the crystal fountain

He took a single diamond and held it to the sunlight
You should have seen it sparkle and reflect the rays so bright

And so he put it in his pocket and continued on his way
His loved waited for his return loosing patience day by day

That night she cried herself to sleep heart broken and alone
She prayed and prayed that knight would soon be safe at home

And so the knight on day returned to find his lady in gold lying on the floor
A note by her reading I cannot wait here anymore

He cried by her side all night until the orange sun rose
And her blood that covered the floor had stained his linen clothes

He took the diamond from his pocket and placed it in her hand
Writing on the note she had written you will never understand

And so the knight took off in the bright of day
Taking another diamond from the fountain on the way

And this one he placed in his breast pocket, right next to his heart
