This Desert Haunting

by Daniel Alexander   Nov 4, 2005

This desert haunting
The only reason we live
To see the spirits smile
And tell us where we are
On a peyote trip in the desert
Feeling like the four horseman
Visions shadow the apocalypse
And it makes me smile
The end is finally at hand
So who were you?
During the stint of existence
Were you happy?
Did you bleed the right color?
I think I did
I love the red in me
It makes a nice line
Did you do the right drugs?
Get enough hugs?
Run with the right thugs?
Or did you live in regret?
Always thinking you were worse
Than the others around you
The end makes us all equal
Nobody gets to live, no exceptions
They said it would be a meteor
What an impossible premise
They said Jesus would return
Last I checked, he didn't
Nuclear holocaust was looming
But that's not what got us
No, this desert haunting told different
We were our own end
