They Must Have Lived

by Daniel Alexander   Nov 4, 2005

The walls trickle down
Broad stroke the paint brush
Give in this sound
These hollow wounds taint us
A growing facade
Thinking in a rush
Je suis malade
The nails bite cheeks, flush
An imported mind
Oozes of rank thought
In a torn veil
This, our story, is not
To be denied
By arrogant liars
To be denied
By arrogant lies
------------------------
Thrash the children
When they awake
Thrash the living
Until they break
Take out my heart
While I'm alive
Take it out bleeding
I will survive
------------------------
Conscious be damned
Down to an echo
All through the land
Mothers have let go
Of all their hope
Crowded in rage thoughts
Only this rope
Is all that we have got
These thoughts die
In the sullen ground
This all-seeing eye
Has been brought down
---------------------------
Quiet will
Come to be
All the world
Just for me
Quiet will
Come to say
All the world
Melts today
