If only

by Betsy Price   Nov 8, 2005

If I was more like you this wouldn't bother me,
I could go to bed without thinking of you,
But your face is still there,
And I still care,
If only I was more like you.

If I could stay a safe distance away,
And not fall so fast,
But your eyes are so blue,
What could I do?
If only I could have stayed away.

If I could have seen the terms,
And realized it's only play,
But I misread,
And lost my head,
If only I could have seen.

If I'd had known the only thing you wanted,
And stopped the feelings at physical,
But I lost control,
And opened my soul,
If only I'd known.
