Black Rose, White Dove

by RadianceInReverse   Nov 11, 2005

She picks up a black rose
that was left by her love
who died because
His love was so great
that he destined his own fate
He felt she was to good to be his wife
thats why he picked up that rusty knife....to end his life

Now shes a black dove
feeling hated, not loved
he left her, he left her alone
"did he not love me enough, to stay alive, she would cry,
" this black rose is a symbol of his death,
I will use my very essence to keep it alive...lest I should Die."

The rose did die
and there she lies,
next to her love
with the symbol of
a black rose and a white dove

This poem is one of my faves..please comment and tell me what you think..Thanks Joclyn

Yes, I liked the concept, the poetry flowed a little awkwardly, but all in all was quite nice.

'He felt she was to good to be his wife'
    Is it 'too good...' ?

I really like the concept of using a black rose and a white dove to describe this love. The last stanza kind of surprises me, I thought she'd be a black dove, but instead she chose to be a white dove. Nice one.
The first stanza is really sad, it brings tears to my eyes.
I feel that the dialouge kind of disturb the flow, but maybe it's just me, nonetheless, I really like this a lot, I just had to keep reading it. =)
