The Spotlight

by ratchild666   Nov 21, 2005

Sitting plainly on this chair
Unexpecting, unaware
Dreams of you shrouding my stare
In the blindspot of the spotlight glare
My thoughts drifting and twirling miles away

Crash back down to this ground
As I read your words are spinning around
Silence but deafened by a thousand sounds
Chains unlocked and ropes unbound
Is this dream reality?

But no, there the text does stay
You dont want me to go away
Helping me win the game I play
Stunned to silence

Yes I type and a smile appears
First true one in over a year
Everything else disappears
Opaque thoughts now brightly clear
Youve made my day

Spotlight drifting towards me
Getting closer I can see
No fear, no defenceless plea
How much happier can I be?
Drawing to a close

When it reaches me I might
Brighten up in a flash of light
Shining down from out of sight
No running away, no frenzied fight
I have no worries

Then it reaches me and Im not scared
Even though I was unprepared
I dont care for the attention
No more masks or false pretension

Not afraid to be seen, with this beating heart
I smile and stand up, and begin this start
