Hidden

by MickDego   Dec 6, 2005

Tucked away in the depths of my mind,
It's there. Hidden.
But to its existence I am not blind
Even though, it's hidden.

"Hidden from who or from what?" One could ponder.
It's hidden from you, for I don't trust
That if you knew how my mind'll wander
To thinking of you without thoughts of lust,
But instead, of the heart's purest desire,
You would feel the same way.

But would the consequence be so dire?
Am I really frightened by what you might say?
Or perhaps, by chance, it's my lowly luck
In past affairs of love, although somewhat true,
Are these the reasons for why I Must tuck
Away my feelings for you?

While all of this evidence could fit the right mold,
This is not what causes my mind so much strain.
The real reason for what cannot unfold
Is the present dilemma conflicting my brain...

I really like you, but your Age is not proper
And, thus for now, I must refrain.

Even though I believe you truly mature,
I cannot override the Principle of Fact.
Therefore, I wait - and that is for sure.
'Til that day of January, the truth stays intact.

You may already know from my actions and glances,
But not from my tongue, for it I shall bite
And continue not making any advances...

Until the time be known by me to be right.
Even though it seems like an endless mile,
My infatuation for you will almost stay out of sight.
But one day, you will know how you make me smile.
