The Moon Dancer Runaway

by Victoria Lee   Dec 17, 2005

Moon Dancer shines with an encrypted smile.
Runaway, but she'll return in awhile.
To the wondrous night that so beguiles
Her flaming soul that seeks passion and desire.
The cackling of a mirthful fire,
Reaches for heaven, an enticing spire.

The world looks down on one so forlorn
But she will not stand to conform
To an earth she declares that lost it's magic,
In a war long ago, so unheard-of-ly tragic.
And the Fays how they wept!
At the thought of being mere tales.
Left to unceasingly cry out from their eternal jails.

This lonely girl wants is a chance to live in whimsy
A chance to hear the unruly roar of the gypsies,
Run bare foot along with the elves,
Through a forest of ancient elms.
Ride on a centaurs back,
A chance to forget what she lacks.

Dream Dancer
Giving out her evasive answer,
As to where she spends her endless eves.
Leaves fall as through the night she flees
Draped in black, a flowing, elegant cape.
She runs for her final escape.

Fire dances across her face, sparks up to the skies
Solitary laughter echoes through the woods
She cries out to her secret god
One more chance at life, one last sacrifice.

You did a brilliant job at the descriptions. Great imaginery. This is truly outstanding.

Your title makes me all so curious about this poem and it turns out mysteriously beautiful. A moon dancer, what a dreamy character. A true fantasy write.

Though I don't get the deeper meaning behind these lines, the feelings I've felt drew a vivid and clear story about this dancer, it leaves a great space for imagination.

i've enjoyed reading this. Thanks for sharing. =)
