An Empty Wine Bottle

by Tine   Dec 18, 2005

When Christmas is over, and I wake up again
day after, in my warm comfty bed
I always take time to wake up and think back
to yesterday
and when the pictures are printed
friends and I take time to laugh
about what we see...

a group sitting near a Christmas tree
with lots of gifts and food near
laughing together, enjoying being together
somebody dressed up as Santa, sometimes
little children becoming friends
not taking time to think about the poor
that's what is weighing heavily
the day after
the poor people, I'd like to help so badly
next picture...

unpacked gifts,
only happy faces to see
soft, warm light surrounding them
next...

three friends,
all a glass of wine in their hand,
me on the left
smiling for their lives,
just two more pictures,
we say
the rest is for the next time...

picture taken on the outside
once again a big group,
the same friends,
going in town
seeing more of their friends
last one...

a very large group of friends
posing in front of a restaurant,
giving gifts to homeless people
handing them gifts,
offering them a place to sleep
because that's the essence of Christmas
helping everyone, being together,
loving each other,
and sitting around that good old Christmas tree...
