To my daddy

by 100Percent_inlove   Dec 30, 2005

I looked at you for the first time
You were handsome, young, and tall.
My crying was stopped when you gave me the bottle,
In that long and empty hospital hall.

My first anniversary was a big feast,
Filled with presents and a clown too.
but nothing else really mattered,
only that you said "My baby, I love you"

I fell on my bike one day
But because you lend a hand I was up.
You taught me many things,
Like how to tie my shoes and drink from a cup.

I was fifteen and you looked sad,
while dancing, I asked you why.
You said "My baby has grown into a lady"
I said "I'm still daddy's girl", but it made you cry.

All of these were special times for me,
But in this, your special day, I dedicate this to you.
I promise I will make you proud of me,
And I'll pick you up when you're down too.

Maybe you are not as handsome or tall,
And you shrink instead of growing.
But I'll always be your little girl,
Whether I'm sixteen or forty.

May God take good care of you
As we keep living life his way.
I love you very much daddy,
Happy Father's Day.

Fantastic poem, i give it a 5. You don't take your father for granted you appreciate him, and i love hearing that. Keep writing.
