Let Me Love You

by Munir Mezyed   Jan 3, 2006

In my heart
Sorrows are sealed
While my wounds will not be healed
I feel like writing an elegy
Not amorous poetry
I possess nothing but tears and sorrow
When only your shadow remains to inspirit me

Habibiti
I can never forget you
Even for a minute
Although fate casts me away from you

Climbing the columns of my sorrow
Struck by storms of memory
Lost between images
Which mess with my mind
I hear the bells of madness ringing in my head..

Thus I yell,
\"I love you\"
And recall
Nights too intoxicated with kisses,
Fully saturated with dreams,
Drowned in love-making...

Habibiti
Your eyes are fabled heavens
Which enclose
Secrets of my inspiration
Unfolding
My passion
Sheltering
My dreamsâ?¦
I dream of embracing you
A sleepy Moon
That yearns eagerly to sleep
In my lap

Between waking and sleeping
I feel you touch me
Hear you call my name.
I jump, running
Like a madman
Looking for the source of the cry

Lost
Shattered
I return to my old cell
To barren nihility
Loneliness
And dead emptiness
I loathe my desolation
This dull despair
The coldness
Coming from the cave of my heart
And heavy night
That wraps me in the cloak of darkness

Habibiti
You, only you, can enlighten
The darkness which abides in my depth
Revive every dead impulse of my heart
And heal all my wounds..
