Closer

by Jane   Jan 4, 2006

A memory in the doorway
Casts shadows on the wall
Familiar sounds are whispers
That I can't make out at all

A silhouette beside me
A face I cannot read
It's nothing but an outline
Of where you used to be

All the things you said
The faces that you made
The very place you sat
Exactly where you laid

The sounds, the sights, the feelings
Have moved inward and been replaced
By a feeling that you're closer
Even though you're farther away

All that was here and left of you
Has now moved inside of me
I'll keep it all locked up
Until we make more memories

You are my one true love
And you're always in my heart
I feel you even closer
In the times we are apart
