Intoxicated Land

by Munir Mezyed   Jan 6, 2006

We may not be fully able to perceive
the divine wisdom,
But what sort of divinity
can bring such cruelty
I feel pity and lament humanity.
We simply justify cruelty.

O mother of lust,
That agonized with pain,
Replete with anger and outrage,
Could it be that you are so cruel
To let the beasts of wrath
Come out of your womb

O intoxicated land,
Bless and have pity on your brood,
The raging monster dashed its mount of fury
To crash over the shores
The mad ghoul wailed,
Blowing breaths of annihilation
Leaving behind ruin upon ruin.

Is this the way we are shown
we are not superior
That there is a higher power
ruling the universe..?
We need to stop polluting our lands
ravaging and depleting our environment
We have changed the force of nature
Now it wreaks its revenge upon us...

Our actions
cause the weakest and poorest to suffer
Industrialization has taken its toll
We have to take responsibility
Think about people of the world
Take steps to reverse
damage done
before we are all destroyed
