Innocence

by Arthur E Irving   Jan 21, 2006

If I were you and you were me,
would I feel young? would I feel free?
Would I open my eyes on every new day,
filled with excitement and wanting to play?
Would a day take forever? a year feel like ten?
When will it be Christmas? or my Birthday again?
Could I play with your toys, with no worries or fears?
If I were upset, would you wipe my tears?
Would the world seem fresh, clean and new?
Would I know where to go? know what to do?
Would I go to school, eager to be taught?
Could I be naughty and not get caught?
Could I fight with my brother, then kiss and make up?
Go for a drink and share the same cup?
Could I run through the fields and play in the park?
Would I sleep witht the light on, afraid of the dark?
Would I know how you're feeling, if you were me?
What would I think? What would I see?
If you were me and I were you,
how would YOU feel? what would YOU do?

Wow. Now this is what I would call Excellent. I love the flow, and the way you switch it around at the end asking how they would feel if they were you. Very talented writing.
