Smile

by Erica   Jan 21, 2006

Newspaper clippings
Kept over the years
Left deep paper cuts
And burned from her tears

Your words broke like glass
News I didn't believe
But proof was left written
In blood on your sleeve

Your miles away
But I'm here with you
If your heart gets broken
Then mines broken too

The sun isn't shining
The moons lost its glow
Tomorrows not coming
Times moving to slow

This darkness is cold
And I know your scared
It all happened so fast
You just weren't prepared

She might be gone
But I'll stay for a while
Cuz I'd do anything
Just to get you to smile

The burning tears line was ill and the simile for broken glass and words were creative. 5/5.

I love the image that the poem creates and it's such an easy poem to relate to. The last two lines were a great ending and to me sum up a perfect friendship. Full marks from myself x
