A Rose In Winter

by Storm Dewleaf   Jan 21, 2006

I am a rose...
And like a rose, I will be short lived.
My winter is eternal,
And a rose cannot live without the spring.
You are my greenhouse in the snow.
As such, you are my life.
My best friend is distant.
I don't feel close to the rest.
When you no longer need me,
What will happen?
For you are my purpose in life.
Protecting you, keeping you as happy as possible.
Don't get me wrong;
I don't want you to lie,
For when you need someone else to make you happiest,
Just let me know.
My purpose will have been lived out.
Because, though you are my greenhouse,
And I am the rose,
You are also the butterfly
Who comes to the rose.
If you find another flower,
Then I will leave the winter
And go find
Eternal spring.
