Life Worth Living

by AIMEE   Jan 23, 2006

A brave young soldier left in a heartbeat.
At the train station he took his seat.
Watching others as he left that day.
He told himself he must now pray.
Pray for those who put trust in him.
Remembering the goodbye banner that said "Goodbye Tim."
He was off in such a short time.
And in his pocket, only a dime.
Many days have flown on by.
When he returned all he could do was cry.
Time had stolen all that he knew.
All had changed, everything was new.
The people that were there were now gone.
He felt depressed as he stared at Dawn.
A friend from his childhood, long ago.
Her feelings for him she wanted to show.
She told him that she cared for him so much.
No matter what happens, he should keep in touch.
She would follow him where ever he went.
Go as far as the place he was sent.
The middle east would be their home for a while.
In this house there was only tile.
The backyard had green, green grass.
And in this small pond, there were tiny bass.
The house they grew so much to love.
Had the cutest front door, and on it,
a white dove.
Up's and down's went by so fast.
It's been 50 years now, recalling the past.
Tim went to war with all these hopes and dreams.
He left Dawn behind just as it seems.
He realized that she was always in his heart.
She was there right from the start.
They're now old and dying together.
Feeling like they're as light as a feather.
Death is all a part of life as they say.
In heaven they live now this very day.
