I assume this is an older piece or a recent one of an older memory.It is indeed sad and heartbreaking what some of us endure in childhood, all we can do is put the past behind and fill the painful places in our hearts with new feelings of happiness and love.This is written well, conveys both message and emotion very well.I like how you use part of the first stanza in the last stanza, brings it around full circle and stresses the impact.Good poem.
