Never left behind

by PFC Louderback   Feb 4, 2006

Men and women fight,
So that we can be free.
To strive for victory,
To be all they can be.
But to be honest, they fight not for us, not for our flag, not for medals, not to brag.
They fight for their brother,
Their sister in arms,
Fighting so valiantly,
To ensure them no harm.
If they are to succumb to death, And life fades away,
They will not be left alone,
Not be tossed away.
Dead or alive,
They will leave together.
"No one is left behind"
And this rings true,
They will rush into certain death,
To save the comrades they once knew.
"Once a brother always a brother"
This is the oath,
To gladly surge forth,
Not for glory, not for boast.
Soldiers stick together,
A soldier stays true,
A soldier stays loyal,
Giving it all for men and women they never knew.
