What if we had actually spoken
the feeling's we really had.
Then maybe I wouldn't feel so broken
and my heart wouldn't be so sad.

What if we had been truthful with each other,
and not kept things inside.
Then maybe we wouldn't have ended up with another,
and our feeling we wouldn't have to hide.

What if is such a stupid thing to say,
since I married another man.
All you had to do was ask me to stay,
and take me by the hand.

What if is silly for you too,
when another woman kisses you goodnight.
I scream for something new to do,
to banish the idea of you holding me tight.

What if is all we have now,
because of our stupid pride.
And out of the way we should bow.
praying for the day we don't have to hide.

What if is what I hoping one day,
will bring us together what we tore apart.
Maybe there will a way,
For us to have another start.
