Shattered Valentine

All she wanted was a special day at last
To let go of the dark memories from the past
She wanted a gift from someone special
But that person was so close-minded and superficial

She watched all of her friends get many gifts from boys,
And saw their eyes filling with tons of joy
Seeing her friends continuously giving and taking,
She realized her heart would never stop breaking

With every heart-felt present going around,
She felt very lonely and a tear fell to the ground
Keeping high hopes for that single Valentine,
She waited and waited to officially call that boy "mine"

That girl had her dream shattered until it was a small piece
Negative thoughts ran through her mind and her agony wouldn't decrease
She kept high hopes for that one guy she admired,
Since he was the only boy she truly desired

In the end, in that boy's eyes, she was only a reject
Her Valentine's day was significantly wrecked
Without a single gift or guy to call her own,
She left school that day torn, miserable, and alone
