I rather have him

by Kristi White   Feb 21, 2006

He wasn't you, he never was
but fate brought him there that day.
You were gone, you left me there...
it was him that stayed.
And although he wasn't you
he might as well have been
because that boy taught me so much
he loved me like you never did.
I wish that he were you
because you're the 1 I love
but it was that boy who was there for me
and he is what I want.
I'm nothing short of guilty
but it was not a mistake.
I wish to say I'm sorry and mean it
but you're not something I can replace
because you are never there
and I doubt you ever will
and although I love you with all my heart
it's his love that I feel.
I ask you for forgiveness
but in my mind I have no regrets.
That boy is everything I want
and I'd rather be with him.
