All Along Deserving Of Respect

by PFC Louderback   Feb 22, 2006

Towers in flames,
souls seeking salvation.
Brave men without question,
Racing the blaze for others protection.
Hope dwindles out,
Yet these brave citizen soldiers surge forth,
Through the ash and debris,
Heat and the pain,
These firefighters earn their pay.
But this day they do it not for money,
Not for gain.
Not on the clock,
Without delay.
Saving lives is their business,
Their craft of trade,
Dying for those weary souls,
Not in vain.
We found out that day what they suffer,
Giving their lives for their brothers.
Knowing they would not return,
Still showing courage to take their turn.
When they fell,
They fell with pride,
A gasp from the nation,
For those left inside.
Officers of the Peace,
Firefighters alike,
Earned our respect that day,
for giving their lives.
