This Was Meant To Be

Please Please read this. It is long but trust me it is worth it.

I'll tell you a story
Of what happened to me
A story of sadness
And harmony

My boyfriend
Went off to war
My eyes began to water
As tears began to pour

I kissed him goodbye
And wished him the best of luck
And I watched him walk away
To his big red truck

He shut the door
Looked at me and smiled
Told me he would be back
To watch me walk down the aisle

He blew me a kiss
As I watched him drive
As my heart felt weak
And started to dive

He wrote me
When he could
Said he would be back
He would

Letter stopped coming
After two years
My heart was ripped
My eyes were in tears

Every single day
I lost all hope
And wanted to die
By a rope

But somehow
Something kept pulling me back
Like he was still out there
Waiting to come back

I kept waiting
As another year went by
Oh how I wished
I could die

I found a note
To my dearest friend
"Follow the signs
Don't give up till the end

You will find a surprise
You will want to attend
Just trust me
Love, You Dearest Friend"

I followed the signs
Across the street
I couldn't wait
I was fast on my feet

I turned the corner
To the park
And found a gazebo
Lit up in the dark

I took a deep breath
And saw a note
"Will you marry me?"
It wrote

I turned
And started walking away
But what was there
Shocked me in every single way

There my boyfriend stood
Got on his knee
Opened the box
And said, "Will you marry me?"

How I soared
At the look of my love
I felt free
Free as a dove

Of course I said yes
With no questions asked
How that night
My sadness was unmasked

I can't believe it
How he got back to me
How God was saying
This was meant to be
