Just a poem

I met this new guy at school
we clicked right on the first day
he stayed less then a week
then he had to move away

we haven't lost contact
as the years have past we've grown
the greatest guy in the world
i wish you could of known

my best friend moved 9 hours away
the day he told me that he was going to leave this earth
was the moment i realized
how much he was worth

months past
he only got worse
i tried to believe in heaven
though God was all i could curse

he always said i was his angel
and never to lose hope
he is no longer around
i don't know how to cope

many people in their lives
never even know
how it feels to love someone so much
then to watch them go

i drove the whole 9 hours
when they said it was time for goodbye
i was there in that room
as i watched him cry

he told me he was scared
but not of what on the other side he may see
he was scared of living an after life
without ever seeing me

at that moment i cried too
and begged him not to go
he told me he was sorry
for the affection he never got to show

with a whisper of i love you
and a tight held hand
he left me here
to go to a distant land
