Unknown Love

by Jaxlynn   Mar 12, 2006

He would have done anything at that moment
To have her to hold
To bring her face back to life,
To make it not look so cold.
No one dared speak
As a single tear fell from his eye,
And rolled down his cheek.
He bent over and down set a yellow rose,
As he laid a gentle kiss on top of her nose.
"I love you" He whispered but it was too late,
Someone had already taken her fate.
He never got to tell her how much he had cared,
It was too late,
Her life was not spared.
"I will love her until the day I die!" He said, but she would never know,
As he walked outside everything was covered with snow.
He never again had the same love for another,
He ended up old and outliving his brother.
One day as he lay in his hospital bed,
Silent as ever,
The nurse walked in and annouced he was dead.
Just as he had promised, he loved her to the day of his death;
He thought of her on his very last breath.
At his funeral, hundreds of people came, young and old,
For they had all heard of the story he told.
One man was there,
Who was young back then,
But now old and very thin.
He was the one who mattered the most,
For he was the one who was blamed from coast to coast.
Finally he stood up and said,
"I'm sorry that sunny boy here is dead,
I'm the one he blamed all of his life,
For the death of his then future wife.
I was too young back then,
I didn't know right from wrong,
And the result of my mistake,
Was his love not living very long.
For some reason, this man forgave me,
And I could never really understand why,
Maybe it was because he didn't want others to drink and drive."
