Mom's example

by Kristi White   Mar 14, 2006

Awakened every night
by whimpering little cries.
You take the liberty to lock the door
but I still notice the light.

I hear the pleads you make
as you whisper of deceit.
I hear you pray to god
for your heart to recomplete.

I hear you call for dad
but he never answers back
but still you never hesitate
to question why he left.

I put my ear up to the door
as if the presence will bring you solace.
Sometimes I cry along with you
although you do not notice.

I scrounge your room the next morning
to read the poetic words you wrote.
I fall in your example to never love...
that you can't love with a heart that's broke.

You never knew it mom, but you're my inspiration,
not just to write, but fear.
You taught me all the secrets of pain
with your crying that I hear.

*I was a lil confused on emotions from my parent's bad marriage... that was forever ago and I don't know why it's affecting me now of all times but it just did...

please rate, it only takes a second or 2 of your time to make a difference in something that means a lot to me.
