True, Broken, Love

by Matt   Mar 27, 2006

She can't see it, but he knows it
Everything he's done had a purpose
Even in her resurrected fortress
Enclosed herself in walls to keep him out
Wrapped in layers of broken glass and fire
Ten miles long and no way to turn around
He continues to work his way to her
Through the pain and suffering each day
Eventually, he knows it's coming
He'll break through the final barrier
Scream out her name to the havens above
And watch his tears get eaten by the dust
Crawling on hands and knees through it all
He'll come though, broken and bleeding
With his heart pulsing ever weaker
Being reduced to the simplest form of life
All to spend a few seconds with her near
She's done her part, trapped and buried him
But he can't accept it if she walks away
Leave him laying on his back, rain crashing against
Watching it gently pull the blood from his skin
And release each and every on of his sins
So his heart is left open and bear to the sky
One last look and she would finally see
Exactly how he knew it was meant to be
Because on his heart it was forever written
His name and hers, wrapped in forever
