Our Song

by livefreebright   Apr 3, 2006

Driving down a dark road
That one summer night
Radio loud, windows down
And no end in sight

Barefoot and wreakless
Blindly turning the dial
Searching for something
To shorten the mile

I stop at a station
When I hear the tune
I sit back and relax
Just look out at the moon

A chill runs through me
Although the air is still
The lyrics run through me
And my mind starts to fill

I see a vision
A boy in my mind
He's my imagination
Yet the feelings undefined

We lay on our backs
And lock our hands tight
Staring up at the stars
That light up the night

The radio sings softly
The lyrics speak what we feel
It's all flooding back now
This isn't real

I'm back in the car
Still dreaming of him
It seems to be darker
Like the headlights are dim

If ever I find him
I'll make this our song
Teach him all the words
So we can both sing along

The ride ended that night
But the journey went on
Even after the wheels haulted
And the night became dawn

Sometimes after that
My dream became true
Now I'm laying on the grass
Locking hands with you

Our song is playing
Chills run down my back
You look into my eyes
And the feelings rush back

The song isn't the reason
For all the chills I feel
Your part of the reason
Because now I know you're real.
Your the boy
