The cost of a heart

by Brandy   Jan 31, 2004

I can look in your eyes,
and then I'm lost.
They say love is free,
but everything has a cost.

What do you want me to pay?
Because nothing is ever free.
Will you ask for my heart?
Please don't, just let that be.

I'll give you money,
gold or anything.
Just leave my heart alone,
you will do that if you really love me.

Leave it untouched,
unbroken, and unburned.
Let the truth be told,
my heart was borrowed and never returned.

So I'll try to love you,
but I cant promise anything.
For you have a heart,
and mine needs a restart.

For love once cost me my heart,
now all thats left is a hole.
Now you know why I cant give you my heart,
because it was actually stole.
