Red flowers

by ShadowDancer   Apr 4, 2006

The snow is cold beneath pine trees
and colder still the earth below
yet still the blood red flowers bloom
and lie here scattered in the snow

like drops of blood on pure white skin
these perfumed petals do lie
the vines shedding their ornaments
as they will until winter's chill does die

*wrote this for a poetry game. tell me what you think*

This was beautiful for a nature poem. It might have been written for the poetry game, right? But it stands as a wonderful poem on it's own. I think you'd maybe extended it a bit, it might be better. But even as a short poem, it's really sweet.
